The DeWitt-Lavaca Special Education Cooperative (DLSEC) received a generous $5000 donation from the Don G Kaspar Foundation to help pay for fencing around the RISE playground.
Hali Kaspar, Jill Opela, and Katie Greer, members of the Don G Kaspar Foundation Board of Directors, were on hand to present the check to DLSEC Executive Director Jason Appelt during a Valentine's Card-Making Party at the RISE Elementary Building at Yoakum Intermediate School.
During the party, students, staff, and the Don G Kaspar Foundation guests made Valentine's Day cards for local nursing home residents and enjoyed Valentine's cookies and punch.
The new fencing was installed by J. Mark Threadgill & Company. It will help ensure the safety of RISE students while enjoying time on the playground.
