The members of Hochheim-Prairie Hermann Sons Lodge #90 recently made a generous donation of Play-Doh and Crayola Markers for our students to use in the new school year. Lodge President, Janet Zabransky, and Secretary, Carolyn Hoepfl, presented the colorful collection of items to DLSEC Multi-District Programs Principal, Tessa Sanchez, on Monday.
Our students will greatly enjoy using these items, and we sincerely appreciate the thoughtful donation!

Please join us in welcoming our new DLSEC team members! We are excited to have Madi Jan and Veronica Pohl on our team of multi-district teachers. They both come to us with many years of special education experience and a wealth of new ideas for our students. Sheila Etzler is our new occupational therapy team member. She has many years of experience in the OT field to bring to DLSEC OT students. Addison Hunnam will be returning to DLSEC as a special education aide. She has worked with us before and we are thrilled to have her back on the team. Monica Estrada will also be joining DLSEC as a special education aide. She comes to us with fresh enthusiasm to be a part of the special education field. Victoria Martinez will also be returning to our DLSEC team as our campus custodian. We are so grateful to have her back on the team as she is knowledgeable in her field and brings a terrific work ethic.
DLSEC is fortunate to add these new team members to our fold! We look forward to supporting them as they come aboard and learning from them as they share their unique knowledge and experiences with us!

Students in Mr. Brooks's elementary GOALS class participated in a special hands-on "lunch and learn" as they practiced social skills, including table manners, with a special meal from Rusty Rooster, sponsored by Mr. Brooks. .

As part of the unit, Changes All Around Us, RISE high school students made Thunderstorm Pie. The cafeteria staff was involved to make this happen as part of the unit along with the study of a healthy plate. The ground beef was the ground, we substituted broccoli for the peas for the trees, the carrots were the people, the potatoes were the clouds, and shredded cheese served as the lightening. Students enjoyed making a delicious healthy plate. All students enjoyed their meal and the help from smiling YHS cafeteria staff.

Our RISE high school students have been learning about rollercoasters and Morgan's Wonderland. Check out this tasty rollercoaster model students made.

Students in Mrs. McCommas's class had fun learning about and observing the eclipse on April 8, 2024.

April is Autism Awareness and Acceptance month! During the month of April our staff and students wear shirts to show our support and help spread acceptance and awareness about autism. Every year Meagan Moore and the Shiner Lions Club design and sell Autism Awareness and Acceptance shirts in our area. The proceeds from these shirts are donated to DLSEC for our annual special events like prom and Reel Fishing.
This year's shirt, car decals, and stickers were designed by Meagan's son and DLSEC student, John Moore.

Wednesday, April 3, 2024, was Turtle Wing Day! We show our support for the Turtle Wing Foundation and raise awareness and acceptance of autism by wearing our Turtle Wing gear on this day. Turtle Wing Foundation provides support and services to people with autism and their families in our area. You may learn more about Turtle Wing Foundation by visiting turtlewingfoundation.org.
