We would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to the Lions Clubs of Yoakum, Hallettsville, Shiner, Moulton, and Yorktown for sponsoring the annual Lions Club Christmas party for the students of the DeWitt-Lavaca Special Education Cooperative multi-district programs. Through the Lions Clubs' generous support, all of our multi-district students received a gift from Santa at the party. The students were elated as they each opened a gift from the wish lists they submitted to Santa. Members of the five area Lions Clubs who attended the party are pictured.

Where in the world is ECSE 2? Well, here's the update from Mrs. Hanson:
ECSE 2 students have been learning about Christmas around the world. Last week on Monday, we "visited" Australia and made sand dollar ornaments and made fairy bread. Wednesday, we "visited" Canada and had a Christmas parade. We also made Santa hats out of red and white fluffy paint. We visited Sweden. We made St. Lucia wreaths and made Swedish Rice Pudding.
Stay tuned for more Christmas adventures around the world!

We're so excited about John Moore's "I Voted" sticker design being printed on the stickers for this election. If you voted in Lavaca County today, you may have received one of these stickers.

Mr. Roznovsky's students have been learning about centrifugal force. Using using IQ Key kits, the students created robots that move in a circle to demonstrate how centrifugal force works. Students will continue the exploration to study how the centrifugal force changes as you change the center of gravity with it. The students love the hands-on learning!

Do you have extra plastic bags accumulating at your house? We can help you repurpose them! Just drop off extra bags at RISE elementary building at Yoakum Intermediate School or at DLSEC office at 402 Hubbard Street, and we will put them to good use!

Making vampire teeth pizza was a Halloween hit with RISE students today!

Students enjoyed some fall fun in Mrs. Hebert's class learning art and science together. Students used warm water and baking soda to outline the pictures and dip their hands. After that completely dried, "paint" was made with a mixture of turmeric and hand sanitizer. Students used sponge brushes to paint with the yellow turmeric and sanitizer mixture. Through the magic of science, when the yellow turmeric-sanitizer mixture touched the dried baking soda-water mixture, the baking soda-water areas change to a red color.

Mrs. Hebert's class took a bite out of learning while studying the sense of taste!
